Congratulations to Richard Hooton on WINNING the short story category in our 2021 Hammond House Publishing International Literary Prize awarded by the University Centre Grimsby


Richard's short story 'Good Grief' won 1st place in our Short Story category.


Prizes will be awarded at our annual literary festival to be held on 9th February 2022 - the theme for our 2022 International Literary Prize will also be announced.


Born and brought up in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, Richard Hooton studied English Literature at the University of Wolverhampton before becoming a journalist and communications officer.


He has had numerous short stories published and has been listed in various competitions, including winning contests run by Segora, Artificium Magazine, Henshaw Press, Evesham Festival of Words, Cranked Anvil, the Charroux Prize for Short Fiction and the Federation of Writers (Scotland) Vernal Equinox Competition.

Richard lives in Mossley, near Manchester.
