Staying Home: 500 word short story competition

It's easy to feel lonely and aimless during these difficult times, and here at Hammond House we want to do what we can to help writers across the world who might be struggling with loneliness and isolation. We've decided to launch an entirely free writing competition, Staying Home, which we hope will give writers a goal to work towards and some inspiration in the coming months.

Writing is not only proven to be beneficial and therapeutic, but writers are in a unique position to record the current crisis in a unique way, to be shared with future generations. Our challenge for you is to write a 500-word short story about the current COVID-19 crisis – wether you write about your own experiences or fictional experiences, that's up to you.

All shortlisted entries will be uploaded to the website and the top 3 winners will be published in the Survival short story anthology, due to be released early in 2021.

The Staying Home competition is open from now until Monday the 8th June at midnight.

Submit your 500-word short story to admin@hammondhouse.org.uk

Don't forget, the 2020 International Literary Competition is now open. Check it out here.
