SEÁN Ó SÚILLEABHÁIN

2nd Place 2018 International Literary Prize

Seán Ó Súilleabháin is an Irish writer and teacher living in County Wicklow with his wife Emma and their six month old energiser bunny, Finn.

Seán has written a number of radio and stage productions for both children and adults. A keen nature enthusiast, Seán’s first book Wicklow Bound. A Seasonal Guide is a personal reflection on the seasonal changes of a passing year and was published by Wordwell in 2016.

Between the continuous cycle of correcting copies and changing nappies, Seán has just finished his first collection of short stories, and was shortlisted or placed in various literary festivals, including the Dalkey Creates Festival (2017), Words by Water (2018) and The Irish Arts & Writers Festival (2018).

The short story Ewigkeit was inspired by his own father’s love of music and the power of communication through song once he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Seán would like to thank the Hammond House Team for the great honour in selecting the story to be included in the 2018 anthology.
