Sold Out Too is the third book in the series ‘When Darkness Calls’ and the direct sequel to book one from the series Sold Out/Soul Doubt.

Steve Canning wakes in the hospital, after his attempted suicide.

After his daughter’s funeral, Steve finds himself a suspect in the murder of his sister-in-law, after receiving a mysterious text message. The police further query the death of his daughter and the stabbing of his next-door neighbour.

Steve is determined to clear his name and exact revenge of biblical proportion on the real culprit.

As seems to be the norm for Steve, the road to redemption is a bumpy one, paved with hidden agendas, deceit, and cold-blooded murder.

It appears that the one person he can trust, is the one person that he should trust the least.

As the story reaches its climax, will Steve’s appetite for revenge be finally sated?

Will Steve finally get what he deserves, or does he in fact deserve what he gets?

John is in his early fifties. For over 20 years he has been a technical author, penning many guides and professional examinations, and training materials, he has now decided to switch his focus.

John has an interest in the supernatural, and the paranormal, having had many direct experiences over the years, which began when he was 18, when he experienced his first ghost sighting. Over the years John has dabbled with Ouija boards, dowsing and crystals and spent 4 years living in a haunted house where he believes that he was attacked by an entity. Check out some of John’s stories on his blog. whendarknesscalls.blog

These specific experiences are to be documented in his upcoming book ‘A Very Ordinary Story & The Thoughts & Ramblings of a Madman.’

John’s first book Sold Out/Soul Doubt was in part inspired by his interest in the subject.

John also has a keen interest in the work of John Dee and Edward Kelley as well as King James I. using the KJV bible as a key reference source, along with the book Daemonologie also written by King James I.

John’s desire is to write easy to read, engaging, accessible and fast-paced books; containing a strong message about morality, he does not believe in writing 50 words where 10 will suffice; he is personally put off by books where it seems the authors only concern is demonstrating they have a huge vocabulary (or depend heavily on a thesaurus) and who try to convey their own intellect rather than a palatable story.

Although John recognises that it is a bold statement to make, he believes that given his many years auditing against numerous international standards that his stories will not contain any plot holes.

He also avoids expecting the reader to make huge leaps of faith and attempts to set out rules that are adhered to throughout the story.

John’s books are best described as ‘cross-genre’ as they often have elements of romance, thriller, mystery, and supernatural and urban fantasy. Books two and three, also have a foot firmly in the horror/dark fiction camp.

John has recently experienced his own brush with ‘Darkness’ as his wife was diagnosed with cancer while he was writing Sold Out. She is now thankfully through surgery and treatment and is now in recovery.

John recognised that through these difficult months his own mental health had suffered immensely, and he has authored a book called ‘Cancer The Collateral Damage’ which is a short and hard hitting account of those troubled times. The book is intended to help others not to fall into the same emotionally driven traps that he himself did. All royalties from the sale of the book will go to local cancer charities.

Other than that John lives a simple life on the east coast of Lincolnshire.
